Redfern Park is defined by its grand, mature Canary Island palms and the ornate Baptist Fountain, which sits at its heart. Originally a boggy wetland known as Boxley’s Lagoon, the site was reclaimed and transformed into a Victorian pleasure ground in the late eighteen eighties. Today, the park is a green oasis bounded by Elizabeth, Redfern, Chalmers, and Phillip Streets, blending Victorian-era garden design with later additions like the nineteen nineteen war memorial.
