The Banff Beaver Cabins are a group of garden-style, historic rental units located on Beaver Street. They occupy two town lots in the heart of Banff, just one block away from the main street. These cabins are recognized as a Class B Alberta Heritage Site and represent a rare, surviving example of the "backyard development" that once defined residential life in the town. In the nineteen twenties and thirties, homeowners built hundreds of these small structures behind their own residences to meet the surging demand for tourist lodging, though many have since been removed.
