Bow River Bridge

The Bow River Bridge is defined by its stone-faced concrete arches and the six concrete-cast reliefs of a First Nations man spaced along its parapets. Completed in nineteen twenty-one, this structure carries Banff Avenue across the river, serving as the main southern gateway from the town site toward the historic hot springs. The bridge was built to replace a cramped, single-lane iron truss span that had become dangerous with the arrival of automobiles in the park.
