Banff National Park Administration Building

The Banff National Park Administration Building is a large, L-shaped structure constructed from Rundle limestone, recognizable by its cedar-shingled roof and the projecting square tower that features an oriel window and stone crenellation. Built between nineteen thirty-five and nineteen thirty-six as a federal relief project during the Great Depression, the building was designed by architect Harold C. Beckett. His Tudor Revival design used local stone and timber to create a sense of permanence and authority intended to harmonize with the mountain environment of the Canadian Rockies.
