St. George's in the Pines Anglican Church

St. George's in the Pines Anglican Church is marked by a distinctive square bell tower built from local Rundle stone, designed to harmonize with the pointed slopes of Mount Rundle. Standing as the oldest active church in Banff, it occupies the highest point in the village, a site chosen in eighteen eighty-nine to make the building visible from all sides. Construction of the stone structure took nearly four decades to complete, moving forward only as money became available, often forcing parishioners to gather in tents during the summer months while the interior was still unfinished.
