The Distillery Historic District is defined by its dense collection of Victorian industrial architecture, featuring over forty brick and limestone buildings that span thirteen acres. These heritage structures, connected by narrow, cobblestone pedestrian paths, originally formed the Gooderham and Worts Distillery. Founded in eighteen thirty-two by James Worts and William Gooderham, the site began as a gristmill powered by a seventy-foot windmill on the edge of Toronto Bay.
