St Lawrence Hall

St. Lawrence Hall is distinguished by a prominent domed cupola that rises above the surrounding neighborhood. Completed in eighteen fifty following the Great Fire of Toronto, the building stands as an example of Renaissance Revival architecture. Architect William Thomas designed the structure with a facade featuring engaged Corinthian columns and a French mansard roof. The building was created to serve as a hub for the city's social and cultural life, housing commercial space on the ground floor, offices on the second, and a one-thousand-seat assembly room on the third.
