Union Station

The most striking feature of Toronto’s Union Station is the row of twenty-two massive limestone columns standing before the main entrance. Each one rises twelve meters high and weighs seventy-five tons, a scale meant to signal the grandeur of a city gateway. This structure, completed in nineteen twenty-seven, stands as the finest example of classical Beaux-Arts railway architecture in Canada.
