The Cathedral Church of St. James

The Cathedral Church of St. James is defined by a soaring three-hundred-and-five-foot tower and spire, which stands as the tallest church steeple in Canada. This Gothic Revival structure at the corner of King and Church streets serves as the home of Toronto’s oldest congregation, with its parish roots tracing back to seventeen ninety-seven. The current building is actually the fourth church to occupy this specific site, as two earlier stone versions were lost to fires in the nineteenth century, including the great blaze of eighteen forty-nine.
