The Charonne quarter is anchored by the twelfth-century parish church of Saint-Germain-de-Charonne. You can identify the heart of this district by the church’s squat Romanesque bell tower, which rises above the surrounding neighborhood. Unlike the rest of Paris, the church grounds here contain a small, active cemetery, one of only two remaining in the city.
