Place de la Nation

Place de la Nation is defined by a massive bronze sculpture at its center, showing a woman representing the Republic standing atop a globe in a chariot pulled by lions. This monument, titled The Triumph of the Republic, was installed in eighteen ninety-nine to honor the centenary of the French Revolution. The square itself serves as a major traffic circle on the eastern edge of the city, sitting at the border of the eleventh and twelfth arrondissements.
