The Passerelle Simone-de-Beauvoir is marked by its lens-shaped silhouette, a steel structure that spans the Seine without a single pier breaking the water’s surface. Opened in two thousand six, this bridge connects the gardens of Parc de Bercy on the right bank to the esplanade of the Bibliothèque nationale de France on the left. It was the first bridge in Paris named for a woman, honoring the philosopher and writer Simone de Beauvoir.
