Grandes Serres du Jardin des Plantes

The Grandes Serres du Jardin des Plantes are recognizable by their long, barrel-vaulted spans of glass and steel ribs, anchored by sturdy masonry bases. These four climate-controlled structures form a botanical complex within the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle. They evolved from a need to protect and study exotic species brought to Paris by French naturalists during the nineteenth century.
