July Column

The July Column rises one hundred and fifty-four feet above the center of the Place de la Bastille, topped by a gilded, winged figure known as the Spirit of Freedom. This monumental bronze structure commemorates the three days of the Revolution of eighteen thirty, known as the Three Glorious Days, which brought about the fall of King Charles the Tenth and the rise of the July Monarchy under King Louis-Philippe.
