Hôtel de Lauzun

The Hôtel de Lauzun stands at seventeen quai d'Anjou as a rare example of a seventeenth-century private mansion that preserves its original gilded and painted interiors. Built between sixteen fifty-seven and sixteen fifty-nine for the wealthy financier Charles Gruyn des Bordes, the building features carved woodwork and ceilings from the era of Louis the Fourteenth. The architect Charles Chamois designed the residence to reflect the high ambition of its owner, who commissioned the work shortly after his marriage.
