Musée de Cluny

The Musée de Cluny is recognizable by its combination of a late fifteenth-century private mansion and the towering, ancient stone ruins of Gallo-Roman thermal baths. Known as the National Museum of the Middle Ages, it stands in the Latin Quarter on the site of the ancient city of Lutetia. The museum was established in the eighteen-forties after the state purchased the collection of Alexandre Du Sommerard, who had filled the mansion with medieval and Renaissance treasures.
