Gallery of Evolution

The Grande Galerie de l’Évolution is housed within a massive nineteenth-century building at the edge of the Jardin des Plantes, easily identified by its soaring glass roof that reaches thirty meters above the ground floor. Originally inaugurated in eighteen eighty-nine as the Gallery of Zoology, the structure stood for decades before falling into disrepair and closing in nineteen sixty-six. Following a major renovation, it reopened in nineteen ninety-four with its current name and a new mission to display the diversity of life on Earth.
