The Odéon-Théâtre de l'Europe is recognizable by its heavy neoclassical facade, marked by a row of massive Doric columns that overlook the circular Place de l'Odéon. Inaugurated in seventeen eighty-two as the Théâtre-Français, it was the first building in Paris constructed specifically to serve as a monumental public theater.
