Hôtel de Matignon

The Hôtel de Matignon, located at fifty-seven Rue de Varenne, is distinguished by its grand doorway and the expansive, three-hectare private park that stretches behind it. Originally commissioned in seventeen twenty-two by the Prince of Tigny, the mansion was designed by the architect Jean Courtonne. The property later passed through the hands of the Grimaldi family of Monaco, the diplomat Talleyrand, and the Austrian-Hungarian Empire, which used it as an embassy until it was confiscated by the French state after the first World War.
