Musée Rodin

The Musée Rodin is centered on a creamy, two-story eighteenth-century mansion known as the Hôtel Biron, which is distinguished by its classic rocaille architecture and extensive, seven-acre sculpture garden. In the early twentieth century, the building faced demolition, but it was saved when the sculptor Auguste Rodin negotiated a deal with the French government. He offered to donate his entire artistic estate—including thousands of sculptures, drawings, and antique collections—on the strict condition that his works be housed permanently within these walls.
