Musée des Arts Décoratifs

The Musée des Arts Décoratifs occupies the Pavillon de Marsan, the long, western wing of the Palais du Louvre that stretches along the Rue de Rivoli. This museum houses nearly one million objects, making it the largest collection of its kind in continental Europe. Founders from the worlds of industry and art established the institution in eighteen eighty-two to preserve the history of French design and applied arts, from the Middle Ages to the present day.
