Bibliothèque François-Mitterrand

The Bibliothèque François-Mitterrand is defined by four L-shaped glass towers, each twenty-four stories tall, that stand at the corners of a massive, rectangular wooden esplanade. These towers are designed to resemble four open books facing one another across a central sunken garden. Commissioned as part of a series of large-scale cultural building projects in Paris, the library was inaugurated in nineteen ninety-six to serve as the primary repository for the nation's published heritage.
