The grave of Yılmaz Güney is located in division sixty-two of Père Lachaise Cemetery. A writer, actor, and filmmaker of Kurdish origin, Güney rose to fame in the Turkish film industry and earned the nickname the Ugly King. His career was frequently interrupted by political persecution and multiple periods of imprisonment, during which he continued to write screenplays. In nineteen eighty-one, he escaped from a Turkish prison and fled to France.
