The Château Vallombrosa, or Palais du duc de Vallombrosa, is recognizable by its nine crenellated towers and pink gneiss walls that rise above the landscape near the Croix des Gardes. Originally built between eighteen fifty-two and eighteen fifty-six as a neo-Gothic residence, it reflects the architectural style favored by the English aristocracy who began vacationing in Cannes during the nineteenth century.
