Place de la Castre is a small, elevated square sitting at the very summit of Le Suquet, the oldest part of Cannes. You can identify it by the imposing, square medieval watchtower that dominates the space and the warm stone walls of the surrounding historic buildings. This site was once the stronghold of the monks of Lérins, who began building their castle here in the eleventh century to command the coastal landscape.
