The Lycée Saint-Charles sits in the first arrondissement of Marseille, spreading across the hillside just south of the Saint-Charles railway station. Founded in eighteen fifty-six by the Brothers of the Christian Schools, the institution was originally a boarding school that notably educated many children of sailors and students from the French colony in Vietnam.
