House of Art

The Haus der Kunst is a sprawling, grey stone building that stands at the southern edge of the Englischer Garten. You can distinguish it by its long, symmetrical row of limestone columns and its severe, monumental architecture. It was commissioned by Adolf Hitler as the House of German Art and opened in nineteen thirty-seven as the first major construction project of the Nazi regime.
