Fischbrunnen

The Fischbrunnen is a fountain recognizable by the large bronze fish sculpture atop its central plinth, positioned directly in front of the main entrance to the New Town Hall on Marienplatz. While the current structure dates to nineteen fifty-four, the site has been associated with a fountain since at least thirteen eighteen. It originally functioned as a utilitarian water source for the city’s fishmongers, who used the basin to keep their market catches fresh.
