Wehrsteg

The Wehrsteg is a pedestrian bridge spanning approximately one hundred and seventy meters across the Isar River. It sits directly above the weir known as Wehr VI, which regulates water flow between the larger and smaller branches of the river. The structure connects the Museumsinsel and the Praterinsel. The current reinforced concrete bridge dates to nineteen sixty-six, though a predecessor carrying a footbridge existed at this same crossing as early as eighteen eighty-eight. Water flows through ten weir openings located beneath the walkway.
