Franklin's Lodge

Franklin’s Lodge, often called Franklin House, sits on Brazil Road in the James Town district of Accra. It is a stone-built structure characterized by a large, horseshoe-shaped courtyard and an upper floor supported by an arcade of pilasters. Local historians and architects debate its origins, with some attributing the construction to a Dutch merchant named Vanderpuije during the eighteenth century, while others identify it as a much older Portuguese trading post.
