The Astor cinema is marked by a fourteen-meter wooden bar that stretches through its interior, a fixture often cited as the longest of its kind in Athens. Located on the ground floor of a building in the Korai Arcade at twenty-eight Stadiou Street, this cinema has operated in the city center since October twenty-fourth, nineteen forty-seven. It opened its doors that year with a screening of the David Lean film Great Expectations.
