Benizelos Mansion

The Benizelos Mansion, located at ninety-six Adrianou Street, is the oldest surviving house in Athens. The structure is characterized by a stone-built ground floor beneath a protruding wooden-framed upper level, all enclosed by high walls and an inner courtyard. As the last remaining konaki in the city, the residence illustrates the domestic architecture favored by the Athenian nobility prior to the revolution of eighteen twenty-one.
