The Tomb of Ghiyas-ud-din Balban sits in the Mehrauli Archaeological Park as a cluster of rubble masonry walls. It is a square building from the thirteenth century that lacks the decorative stone carvings seen on many other Sultanate-era monuments. Despite its rugged, stripped-down appearance, this structure holds a position in the history of Indian architecture as the first site in the country to incorporate the true arch.
