Avenue Road is a bustling, narrow commercial artery in central Bengaluru that serves as the spine of the city’s historic Pete quarter. While now defined by dense shops selling textiles, jewelry, and rare books, it follows the path of the original Doddapete, a primary thoroughfare established when Kempe Gowda the First founded the settlement over five hundred years ago. It once functioned as a royal passage known as Raja Beedi, providing a direct route toward the city’s ancient citadel.
