Sri Chamarajendra Park

park garden

Sri Chamarajendra Park, widely known as Cubbon Park, spans over three hundred acres of green space in the heart of the city. You can identify the grounds by the massive, mature canopy of trees and the distinctive red, neo-classical stone buildings that border its edges, most notably the Karnataka High Court. Established in eighteen seventy under the direction of the British Chief Engineer Major General Richard Sankey, the park began as a one-hundred-acre project initially named for Sir John Meade, the acting commissioner of the Mysore state.
