The Band Stand in Cubbon Park is an octagonal iron structure, identifiable by its eight pillars and elevated wooden platform. Originally commissioned in nineteen seventeen as a gift from the Maharaja of Mysore, Krishnaraja Wodeyar, it was crafted to house military bands that performed for residents and soldiers in the civil and military station. The structure was imported from the Glasgow-based foundry of Walter Macfarlane and Company.
