Kushikatsu Daruma is marked by the stern, scowling mascot figure of a man holding two skewers in an X position, often seen glaring from the storefront or a second-floor window. Established in nineteen twenty-nine, this narrow, twelve-seat shop is recognized as the birthplace of kushikatsu, a local style of deep-fried skewers that became a staple of Osaka soul food.
