Kuchinawazaka

Kuchinawazaka is a stone-paved slope located within the Tennoji Seven Slopes of the Uemachi Plateau. You can distinguish this particular passage by its gently winding path that stretches from Taiheiji Temple down to Matsuyamachi-suji. The name itself, Kuchinawazaka, translates to snake slope because the undulating road resembles the shape of a serpent when viewed from the bottom. Another tradition suggests the name refers to the location where rope-making began during the construction of Osaka Castle.
