Hozen-ji

Hozen-ji is a small Buddhist temple in the Namba district, easily recognized by the vibrant, dense green moss covering its central stone statue. Established in sixteen thirty-seven, the temple once occupied a much larger space, serving as a spiritual retreat for actors, geishas, and merchants working in the nearby entertainment district. During the bombing raids of nineteen forty-five, the surrounding area and most of the temple buildings were destroyed, but the statue of Fudo Myoo survived the fires.
