Yasui Shrine

Yasui Shrine is a small, quiet precinct identified by a stone torii gate at the edge of a residential block in Tennoji. It is most widely known as the site where the warrior Sanada Nobushige—better known by his stage name, Sanada Yukimura—died in battle on May seventh, fifteen fifteen. During the final days of the Summer Siege of Osaka, Nobushige led the defense against the Tokugawa forces before retreating to these grounds, where a stone marker now indicates the spot he fell.
