Hozenji Yokocho

Hozenji Yokocho is a pair of narrow, stone-paved alleys, each eighty meters long and barely three meters wide, distinguished by the soft glow of paper lanterns that illuminate over sixty traditional eateries and bars. This passageway originally formed the grounds of Hozenji Temple, which was established here in sixteen thirty-seven. Over the centuries, the path evolved from a humble route for temple pilgrims into a gathering place for locals and diners seeking an escape from the city's neon-lit commercial districts.
