Lavaderos del Chorro

The Lavaderos del Chorro are identified by their square, stone-lined basins arranged in orderly rows. These washing stations date back to seventeen thirty-two, when a local resident named Manuel Francisco de la Canal directed their construction to utilize the natural spring water flowing from the hillside above. The site originally included seven rooms at the top of the slope housing five public baths and one private bath, with gravity feeding clean water through clay pipes down to the laundry area.
