Parque de las Palapas

Parque de las Palapas is the central plaza of downtown Cancún, identified by the large, thatched-roof huts known as palapas that shade its public seating and food areas. Inaugurated in nineteen seventy-one, the square was created alongside the first church in the city, Cristo Rey, to serve as a gathering point for residents during the early years of the city’s development.
