Muntplein

Muntplein is a bustling intersection of six streets, but it is technically a bridge, known officially as bridge number one. The square spans the point where the Amstel River meets the Singel canal, making it a central node in Amsterdam's urban layout. You can identify the area by the Munttoren, or Mint Tower, a Renaissance-style clock tower that rises above the square with an octagonal brick base and a graceful, open wooden spire.
