Seven Bridges View Point

At the intersection of the Reguliersgracht and the Herengracht, you can find a sightline where seven stone arches align in a straight row. This perspective, known as the Seven Bridges View Point, reveals the mathematical precision of Amsterdam’s seventeenth-century urban planning. The Reguliersgracht was dug in sixteen sixty-four to cut across the city’s concentric canals, and because those canals and their connecting streets were laid out at regular intervals, each bridge over the Reguliersgracht sits at a consistent distance from the next.
