Plac Tadeusza Kościuszki is defined by its four symmetrical quadrants of greenery, separated by walking paths that intersect at the center. This layout, designed in eighteen oh seven after city fortifications were demolished, occupies a site with a long history as a burial ground and the original location of a Prussian general's memorial. The square is surrounded by five-story buildings constructed between nineteen fifty-four and nineteen fifty-six, which replaced the grand tenements and hotels destroyed during the Second World War.
