St George's Cathedral

St George's Cathedral is built from sandstone quarried directly from Table Mountain, giving the cruciform structure a distinct, local texture. As the oldest cathedral in Southern Africa, this Anglican landmark on Wale Street has spent over a century in a state of construction, with various transepts, aisles, and a bell tower added in stages since the foundation stone was laid in nineteen oh one.
