The Cistern of Theodosius is marked by a sleek, modern glass pavilion on Piyer Loti Caddesi that serves as the entrance to the underground chamber. This ancient water reservoir was commissioned by Emperor Theodosius the Second and constructed between four hundred twenty-eight and four hundred forty-three. It was a critical component of the city's infrastructure, designed to store water delivered from the distant Belgrade Forest by the Valens Aqueduct.
