The Mausoleum of Sultan Suleyman the Magnificent stands behind the qibla wall of the Süleymaniye Mosque as a large, octagonal stone structure wrapped in a colonnaded porch. Its roof is supported by twenty-four columns, and the entrance is positioned facing east, a deliberate departure from the northern orientation typical of such burial sites.
