The one hundred club sits in a basement at one hundred Oxford Street, marked by a simple entrance that belies its history as a sanctuary for music subcultures. Originally opening on October twenty-fourth, nineteen forty-two, as the Feldman Swing Club, it provided a space for swing and jazz during the Second World War. Its location served as a bomb shelter, drawing American GIs who introduced the jitterbug to the city.
